Stone Fence Theatre's new musical comedy G'day, We're from the Valley, EH! is coming to Barrys Bay July 31 for one show at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre. The comedy and songs are all about life in the Ottawa Valley today and a lot of the things that people love about living here. In one comic scene, actor Phil Hoffman usually plays MPP John Yakabuski, but on July 31, Mr. Yakabuski will play himself opposite Ambrose Mullin of Killaloe in his classic "Valley Vic" character. We don't want to give away the plot details, but it's going to be a riot. John has always been a big supporter of our company, and when we showed him the script, he immediately said yes to doing the role. He's been busy in the Legislature, so we're lucky we were able to get him.
More than 300 people attended last year when Stone Fence Theatre visited Barrys Bay. This year, the audience will enjoy a much better listening experience thanks to new sound equipment the company has acquired. The new wireless microphone system permits the audience to hear every word of the show.
The July 31 show also features traditional music and stepdancing by "The Kashub Kids" before the show. Dinner, roast beef by Andrea Paetzold, is served at 6 p.m.
